It is affiliated with Queensland Canoeing and Australian Canoeing. The club caters for a broad range of ability levels from social paddling to competitive paddling, from juniors to seniors and beyond into the master\u2019s categories. A key feature is the members are very social and enjoy staying fit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The two main categories of competition are sprint and marathon and the club participates in events throughout the year. The Queensland Canoeing website is a good source of information for when these events are held.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> For more information go to our website \u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/sunshinecoastpaddlesportsclub.com.au\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">http:\/\/sunshinecoastpaddlesportsclub.com.au\/<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0or meet us down at the club at the beginning of one of the training sessions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>BEING A CLUB MEMBER\u00a0<\/b><b>WIN WIN ALL ROUND<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes, I pay membership so I have access to the clubhouse that has kitchen facilities, showers, toilet, wash down facilities and boat storage. \u00a0Having boat storage facilities means I don\u2019t have to carry my boat on top of my car whenever I want to go for a paddle. Personally, I train before going to work each day so having my boat stored at the club for a small fee, is worth it as it saves a lot of time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Membership also allows me to be insured in a National Insurance Scheme that covers for Public and Product Liability and Personal Accidents whilst participating in sanctioned club events and activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am classified as a senior member and costs $5.38\/week. That equates to $1.34 per session when I do four sessions per week or 77cents per day. How cheap is that!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>CONGRATULATIONS ALYCE BURNETT\u00a0<\/b><b>THE COASTS LATEST WORLD CHAMPION<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sunshine Coast Paddlesports Club formally, Sunshine Coast Kayak Club is home to a number of Olympic and World champions. Grant Kenny, Clint Robinson and Rachel Lovell to name a few. Last week we had the pleasure of hearing another member joined this prestigious group. Alyce Burnett joined this group when she was crowned World Champion last week after winning the K1 1000 at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">during the event in the Czech Republic<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> She finished 2.21seconds ahead of second-placed Swedish paddler Karin Johansson. Burnett was also in action with fellow Coaster and Olympian Alyssa Bull at the competition, qualifying for the final in the K2 500 on Saturday. The girls put in a great effort to place seventh overall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>TRAINING SESSION TIMES-<\/b><b>DO YOU WANT TO GET FIT?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Training sessions vary throughout the week depending on Junior or Senior squads however the sessions indicated below are set times by the club for anybody (with experience) who would like to join in. There are no coaching fees for these sessions and one of the club members, Jason Keating, sets the program for us (Sample Program attached). Generally, we meet up at the club house fifteen minutes before hand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from 5.30am to 7.00am<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from 4.00pm to 5.30pm<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Thursday <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from 5.30am to 7.00am<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Thursday<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from 4.00pm to 5.30pm<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from 6.30am to 8.00am<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from 7.00am to 8.30am<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>TIME TRIALS\u00a0<\/b><b>TEST HOW YOU ARE GOING<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each month our club organises two-time trials. The first one is on the first Sunday of each month for all single craft (K1, TK1, single etc.) craft, single ocean ski. The second one is on the third Sunday of each month for all team boats (K2, K4 double surf craft etc.). Registrations are from 6.30am and the start is at 7.00am.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>LACHLAN BANCROFT\u00a0<\/b><b>GOES TO EUROPE TO COMPETE<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We would like to take this opportunity to wish Lachlan the best of luck when he travels to Europe to compete at the Olympic Hopefuls. The regatta will be in Racice, Czech Republic, on 15th to 17th September. He will be traveling with his grandparents, Norm and Maureen Jackson to Germany on 14th August, where Lachie will train for 2 weeks&#8217; with the junior kayak squad at the Paddle Club Hannover. He will join the rest of the Australian team on 30th August in Racice, where they will have another 2 weeks&#8217; training before the regatta. Lachlan would like to thank the &#8220;old boys&#8221; training group whose interest and assistance have been invaluable to him.
