As we look ahead to the AGM in November\u2014my final one as president\u2014I feel grateful for the support, friendship, and dedication of our members. &nbsp;From major events like the Maroochy River Paddle to the everyday efforts that keep the club running, it\u2019s your contributions that make this community so strong. &nbsp;I encourage everyone to stay involved, put your hand up where you can, and help shape the next exciting chapter of our club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Paddle Queensland and Sunshine Coast Regional Council Sports Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We encourage members to put forward nominations for these prestigious awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Paddle Queensland Awards<\/strong>: details at <a href=\"https:\/\/paddleqld.asn.au\/2025-annual-awards\/\">Paddle Qld Awards 2025<\/a> (nominations close <strong>27 September<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sunshine Coast Sports Awards<\/strong>: details at <a href=\"https:\/\/sunshinecoastsports.com.au\/sunshine-coast-sports-awards\">Sunshine Coast Sports Awards<\/a> (nominations close <strong>30 September<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Play It Forward $500 Bursaries<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Financial assistance is available for juniors who would otherwise be unable to participate in sport. Applications close <strong>14 September<\/strong>. More details: <a href=\"https:\/\/sunshinecoastsports.com.au\/sunshine-coast-sports-bursary\">Sunshine Coast Sports Bursary<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Annual General Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our AGM will be held on <strong>Saturday 15 November<\/strong> at the clubhouse. Formal paperwork will be sent shortly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We strongly encourage financial members to consider nominating for committee positions\u2014particularly the role of <strong>Member Protection Information Officer<\/strong>, which will be vacant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If formal roles aren\u2019t for you, there are still many ways to contribute: joining the cleaning roster, helping with kayak maintenance, supporting the race committee, or assisting as Boat Storage Captain. Every contribution helps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Maroochy River Paddle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you to everyone who contributed to the safe and successful running of this year\u2019s Maroochy River Paddle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The course ran in reverse\u2014from <strong>Eudlo Creek to Dunethin Rock<\/strong>\u2014allowing paddlers to race with the tide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conditions were perfect, with three club safety boats on the water and 69 paddlers in 49 craft.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some participants also camped overnight, adding to the community spirit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While a date clash reduced dragon boat entries and Coast Guard support, the event still attracted a diverse field and plenty of positive feedback.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Special thanks to <strong>Caloundra Pacific Rotary<\/strong> for their delicious BBQ burgers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This event continues to highlight the value of our club in the wider paddling community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Strategic Plan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The club\u2019s <strong>Strategic Plan<\/strong> is now complete and available in the clubhouse. Thank you to all members for their valuable input. This document will guide our short, medium, and long-term goals, helping us make paddling accessible to more people, more often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Lease Renewal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee is currently working with Council on the renewal of our lease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Spring Soir\u00e9e<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Join us for a relaxed social evening on <strong>Saturday 4 October from 5pm<\/strong> at the clubhouse. Please BYO drinks, chair, and a plate to share.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>New Racks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A big thank you to <strong>Alan and Jennifer Rasmussen<\/strong>, long-time supporters of the Maroochy River Paddle through North Coast Foods. Though they have sold their business, they kindly donated storage racks from their shed to our club.<br>Thanks also to Tim for applying decking oil, and to the re-assembly team\u2014Hud, Tim, Delia, and Beau\u2014for their hard work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Daisy Chain Lock on Double Gates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please ensure the double gates are locked in a <em>daisy chain<\/em> style, allowing access for essential service providers (electricity, fire, pest control, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Notice Board Updates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>AVCG IRB Sale<\/strong> \u2013 The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard has an inflatable rescue boat for sale.
