If you have any points please let us know, if we don’t know we cannot help or arrange. Contact a committee member or send a message to sunshinecoastpaddlesportsclub@gmail.com

Septic Tank.

There has been an exceptional rise in water usage and hence emptying of the septic tank.

Your Club is investigating all and any options available to us – Facts and points to limit further cost are:

May to Sept 16 the club had to provide additional pump out fees of $2500.00 this is not sustainable.

Excessive use of shower – Please limit to an environmental water saving time 2- 3 minutes

Parents of young children, there are reports of youngsters standing under the shower for and in excess off 5 – 10 minutes, please supervise your children, to prevent overuse.

Our Toilet was added to the facility for disabled use, able persons please use the council toilet block near the boat ramp.

Your Club is monitoring closely incoming water use, so comparing the amount pumped out, to discover if the tank is leaking (groundwater seepage) will mean a costly repair.

We are in contact to Unity Water to see what possibility there are to link into a sewer, cost will be high and a grant would be required.

Diverting the shower water to a grey water system, lower cost but we still have to pay for incoming water

We will keep you all posted.

Club Membership.

It is extremely important that all those who paddle out of the club are members. Membership ensures the viability of the club, insurance for the member and gives the social benefits of being the member of a club.

We have had a recent accident at the club where a member was very seriously injured. Thankfully she is recovering and was covered by insurance, as she was a financial member.

Sand Bags on River Bank.
No boats are to be launched or recovered over the sandbags. They are very slippery and dangerous. Please use the launching area to the south of the sandbags or from the rubber mats on the ramp.

Boat Storage

It is necessary to pay $90 per year per boat to store your boat at the club. If you have multiple boats, it is $90 per boat. It is not a storage area for boats that you don’t want or have the room for at home. You must also be a current financial member of the club. Please take this opportunity to take your unpaid boats home or put them outside. A craft audit and removal to the yard will be carried out in the next fortnight. Many reasons for this action, including the underinsurance of the stored craft (affects those that have paid correctly) Open spaces for other member boats. But most of all pay your way and don’t dump your gear at the club.

Change of locks on roadside shed. – Actioned 1st Oct

You will notice that additional locks are being added to the roadside shed. This is to improve the security of the club owned and pathways boats. Only club boats will be stored in this area. Parts have been continually removed from these boats and various boats damaged with the cost to the club to refit/repair them is immense. Privately owned boats will be put in the main body of the club.

Come and Try

This will be only one day per month for kayaking, there will be a $10 cost and paperwork to be filled out. One again insurance concern is the main reason for these changes. Dragon boats will remain every Saturday morning.

Dragon Boat

Dragon Boat team arranged a come & try at the markets, 1st one was held Oct 1st but is on-going. Their were/will be, distinct parts before it is completed.

Flyer handout (400) at the Markets 1stOct.

Demonstration paddle adjacent to the Markets with an invitation to customers to join if they wished. There were no takers as people were there to shop not paddle and the demonstration itself was fairly remote from the Market Stall. Some customers told us they had watched.

Thanks from the club committee to all involved in arranging the come and try.

Kind Regards,

CLUB COMMITTEE

The following items were listed for discussion and action at your September committee meeting.
