{"id":2665,"date":"2022-08-31T12:33:23","date_gmt":"2022-08-31T02:33:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sunshinecoastpaddlesportsclub.com.au\/sckc\/?p=2665"},"modified":"2022-08-31T12:33:25","modified_gmt":"2022-08-31T02:33:25","slug":"august-2022-newsletter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sunshinecoastpaddlesportsclub.com.au\/sckc\/2022\/08\/31\/august-2022-newsletter\/","title":{"rendered":"August 2022 Newsletter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Maroochy River Paddle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well done to all volunteers and participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was a success raising funds approximately $4,000 for the club and $2,000 for the major benefactor, the Hear &amp; Say Foundation.&nbsp; The day was dry and clear with winds picking up to 10-15knots around 10am when the majority of paddlers were within 5km of the finish.&nbsp; This last section of the race also has the most river traffic.&nbsp; The race is run on an outgoing tide and the Maroochy River is currently heavily silted which added to the difficulty in finishing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Feedback from participants was that they enjoyed the event and liked that there were members of the wider paddling community participating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Buck Rogers from Mooloolaba Paddlers has shared his drone footage on facebook and Matt will be putting up photos over the coming months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tee-shirts are available to purchase if desired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Membership &amp; Boat Storage<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you feel enthusiastic about the club?&nbsp; Are you loving paddling and spending time with your kayaking family?&nbsp; Your financial support keeps our club strong.&nbsp; If you are using club facilities and\/ or have a boat stored at the club please renew your membership and pay your storage fees.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Come &amp; Try \/ Learn to Paddle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next round of C&amp;T and L2P will commence on 10 September 2022.&nbsp; Please check our Facebook page for details and spread the word to people who you know may be interested in trying kayaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Upcoming Races<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Old Woman Ocean Ski Race is being held on Saturday 3 September from 8:00 am&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;1:00 pm. To register go to www.registernow.com.au<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pacific Coast Marathon Series \u2013 Race 5<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be held on September 25 from 8:00 am&nbsp;to&nbsp;1:00 pm at Currumbin Creek Paddlers Club&nbsp;Davall St, Currumbin Waters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Myall Classic<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This race is held on the Myall Lakes, NSW.&nbsp; Early bird entries close 5 September and you can obtain further info at myallclassic.com.au&nbsp; Distances offered are 12km, 27km and 47km, the longer course being a perfect shakedown for the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/clarence100.com.au\/\">Clarence 100<\/a>&nbsp;and longer marathon paddle races such as the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canoeclassic.net\/\">Hawkesbury Canoe Classic<\/a>&nbsp;held in late October and the Murray in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clarence 100<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Clarence 100 is a three-day, 3 stage marathon river paddle totalling a distance of 106km.&nbsp; From 7\u20119&nbsp;October2022 at Grafton, NSW.&nbsp; For more details go to the website clarence100.com.au<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hawkesbury Canoe Classic<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Hawkesbury Classic Paddle is a 111km, overnight, paddle from Windsor to Mooney Mooney on Sydney&#8217;s majestic Hawkesbury River.&nbsp; Club members who have completed this race include Annette Dawson and Doug Brennan.&nbsp; Further information can be obtained from www.canoeclassic.net<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Massive Murray Paddle<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This five day, 415km race starts at Yarrawonga and finishes at Koondrook.&nbsp; Our club has several winning teams over the years as evidenced by the blue race numbers in the club house.&nbsp; Some of our members participate as individuals who paddle the entire distance.&nbsp; The website is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mmp415.racing\">www.mmp415.racing<\/a> for entry information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Choice Hotels Code<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The club has registered with the Choice Sports program.
