The Sunshine Coast Paddlesports Club has its clubhouse on the banks of the Eudlo Creek that flows into the Maroochy River. It is affiliated with Queensland Canoeing and Australian Canoeing. The club caters for a broad range of ability levels from social paddling to competitive paddling, from juniors to seniors and beyond into the master’s categories. A key feature is the members are very social and enjoy staying fit.
The two main categories of competition are sprint and marathon and the club participates in events throughout the year. The Queensland Canoeing website is a good source of information for when these events are held.
For more information go to our website http://sunshinecoastpaddlesportsclub.com.au/ or meet us down at the club at the beginning of one of the training sessions.
BEING A CLUB MEMBER WIN WIN ALL ROUND
Yes, I pay membership so I have access to the clubhouse that has kitchen facilities, showers, toilet, wash down facilities and boat storage. Having boat storage facilities means I don’t have to carry my boat on top of my car whenever I want to go for a paddle. Personally, I train before going to work each day so having my boat stored at the club for a small fee, is worth it as it saves a lot of time.
Membership also allows me to be insured in a National Insurance Scheme that covers for Public and Product Liability and Personal Accidents whilst participating in sanctioned club events and activities.
I am classified as a senior member and costs $5.38/week. That equates to $1.34 per session when I do four sessions per week or 77cents per day. How cheap is that!
CONGRATULATIONS ALYCE BURNETT THE COASTS LATEST WORLD CHAMPION
