January 2022 Newsletter

Happy New Year everyone.  I hope you’ve had a relaxing, enjoyable and safe holiday.

QR Code Use

Please ensure you use our QR code every time you attend the club house.  Media reports indicate that sooner or later, COVID will be in our midst and contract tracing will be critical.  There are still small, take away QR codes available in a box on the club kitchen bench.  You can check in while in your car and no worry about brining your phone in.

Club Kayaks V Personal Kayaks

Unfortunately a member’s personal kayak stored at the shed has been damaged.  Please do not assume you can use any boat stored in the club house as approximately half the boats stored belong to members.  They are not for general club use.  If you are unsure if it’s a club boat or not please ask or assume it’s not.

January Time Trail Results

Great to see Vance and Peter from Mooloolaba Paddlers come along to our first 2022 time trial.  Joggley conditions, high tide, windy and flood waters made for a tricky course.  Jake received a time adjustment after assisting a stand up paddler who was having trouble getting back on his board at the red marker. Ray and Nicky were pleased with their result while trying out the K2 in the difficult conditions as part of their preparation for the state sprints.   Good to see Dave Kelly back; and well done Ron and Teresa for persisting in these tough conditions.  Luckily Maureen’s damper provided sustenance to all afterwards.
