June 2024 Newsletter

Hi everyone! Welcome to our June newsletter. It’s great to see there are still plenty of paddlers training regardless of the cold weather.

Membership Renewal Just a quick reminder that membership renewals are due 1 July. Keep an eye on your inbox for emails from Paddle Australia. While you’re renewing, please make sure your address, phone number, and email details are up to date. You can also pay for your boat storage along with your membership.

Boat Storage You’ll notice that all the skis are now stored in the roadside section with numbers on small stickers at the right rear of each craft. To help everyone put their boats back in the right spot, we’ve added name tags above or below your boat.

Club Boat Usage & Care Please ensure you wash club equipment after use including: removing sand and salt water; washing off brown sludge that accumulates on the hull; drying inside boats as much as possible and/or returning to racks upside down so that any remaining water drains out. Please be careful of the rudder when getting into the boat; and when retrieving and storing. Make sure the rudder is in deeper water and not stuck in the sand when getting into your boat. The cockpit combing is fragile and can crack easily if you sit on it so avoid this if at all possible.

Maroochy River Paddle We’re getting ready for the 2024 Maroochy River Paddle on 18 August! If you know any businesses that might be interested in sponsoring the event, please email us at sunshinecoastpaddlesportsclub@gmail.com

Barron River Challenge A huge shout out to Steve McLay and Nicky Donaldson for their adventurous paddling at the Barron River Challenge on the weekend of 25-26 May. Well done!
