January 2023 Newsletter

Hello and happy (belated) 2023.

Many of you would know our founding member Fred O’Neill.  Today 13 January, is Fred’s 90th birthday. Happy birthday Fred, from everyone in the club.

Our resident snake has shed it’s latest skin which was found in the clubhouse.  The skin was reported to be about 3m long. No one has had an actual face to face with the culprit yet but just be aware.

Sadly, several rolls of toilet paper were stolen a couple of weeks ago. Please respect the club and help maintain the trust that we have in each other.

Paddle Queensland has released its 2023 Calendar. I encourage you to look and see if there are events you can participate in.

Don’t forget our come and try; and learn to paddle programs are on Saturdays at 9am. If you have friends or family who wish to participate; or want to recommence paddling, please let us know via email sunshinecoastpaddlesportsclub@gmail.com or 0498632265.

Or you may prefer to paddle with one of the training groups on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 5:30am or 6:30am. It’s a great way to build paddling ability and connect with a variety of club members.

The cover photo is from Hud and Delia after training at West Lakes Paddle Club in Adelaide this morning.  Perfect conditions for 8 x 500m sprints on a 5 minute turn around.

The Gambling Community Benefit Fund opens soon and we will again apply for funds for a building extension.  Please let me know if you identify any club needs that may be met with a grant application.

Do you have ideas for club activities or items for the newsletter? Please advise via email.

Thanks, regards, Delia, Doug, Paul, Tim, Lach, Jason and Matt
