Paddle Australia Marathon Championships

Congratulations to the following club members who competed at the championships on 22, 23 and 24 April at Coomera.  Joe Wills, Elke Madlener, Neiva Wright, Pierrick Cartier, Delia West, Jason Keating, Lachlan Kent, Bryn Davis, Graeme Hudson and Steve McLay.  Also thanks to club members who volunteered: Nicky Donaldson, Deb Wright, Graeme Hudson, Steve McLay and Delia West.  The conditions were very windy with gusts up to 30kph and intermittent rain showers. The photo at the end shows Bryn and Lach competing in the K2.

Congratulations to Alyssa Bull on selection in the Senior Work Cup/World Championships Team along with Alexandra Clarke in the U23 Work Championship Team.

Paddle Australia Canoe Sprint Championships

The sprint championships are being held at West Lakes in Adelaide from 18 – 22 May.  Jason Keating will head down towing the big trailer with club K4s, K2s and K1s and some private boats.  The club is fortunate to have the trailer and kayaks that enable members to participate in a range of competitions.  There approximately seven club juniors, six seniors, and one or two masters racing.   An exceptional turn out for our small club.  Good luck to all those participating and safe travels.

Club House Security

Thank you for your attention to ensuring doors and gates are locked.  Would you also please make sure all the internal lights are off including the bathroom light/fan.

External Security Cameras & Upgrade of External Flood Lights

We are installing external security cameras and upgrading the flood lights to LED.  This should deter future break-ins.

Memberships Due 1 July 2022

Paddle Australia send out automated renewal reminders to members.  This year club fees are going up from $95 to $100 for seniors and $50 for juniors.  Boat storage will increase from $90 to $100 per boat.

Members are reminded to choose the correct membership type.   For example if you train and paddle with the group your membership type should be as a fully paid member not a volunteer.

Winter Start Time

With the shorter days, paddlers are reminded that from May through to the end of September the Saturday start time is 7am.
