Pacific Coast Paddle Series 10km Dunethin Rock & Roll
On 9 August we hosted the Dunethin Rock & Roll. It was held on the same date as the cancelled Maroochy River Paddle, but revamped due to COVID-19 and fitting in with the return to non-virtual racing for the Pacific Coast Paddle Series. This is the first of three races organised by Paddle Queensland. The next race is in Brisbane and the third and last race is at Currumbin.
You can still nominate times via the website even if you do or do not participate in the three races.
Race divisions are based on your best time for 10km.
The full race report is attached for your reference but I take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers and prize sponsors.
New Boat Racks
The club has been successful with a grant from the Queensland Government for $17,500 to replace the rusted boat racks the club house. Masterz Fabrications at Kunda Park will be replacing the old rusty racks with welded aluminium racks. This process will take place over the coming months. It will involve the removal of boats by volunteers, the application of padding (probably carpet) on the new racks; and then replacement of boats. All care will be taken to ensure boats are not damaged. However, you may wish to store your boats at home during this process.
Club House Security
Recently, I have attended the club house at various times to find the doors and gate open, with no one in attendance. Bags, boats and personal belongings are left open to theft and damage. Please take responsibility for ensuring the club house is shut and the gate locked when you go out for a paddle. Don’t’ assume someone else will close it after you. Do it yourself and take your key with you!
Club Tee-shirts and Hoodies
One of our new members Jenaya Massie has taken on the task of sourcing some club gear. An email with order forms and prices will be circulated separately. This is an on-line pop up store which means orders and payments are sent directly to the supplier. It will only be open for 14 days, so when circulated please ensure you act promptly to take advantage of this offer.
AGM
The AGM is coming up. This is an opportunity to take a role on the committee and make a difference to how the club operates.
